Probably relying in Wroxham to win the league. Sounds like a poor performance. Beating Stanway on Monday would be lovely.

Ouch not great today and these results briefly make it easy to forget the positive performances and results since october.
Today aside, Mo and co have been first class this season and i cannot thank and applaud everyones efforts, from Mo who is manager AND temporary chairman (and cleaner), his team and to the players who play for NOWT and HAVE without doubt competed at this level.
I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts on whether they'd rather see us go down this season or stay up if given a reprieve?
My view - I aint sure so i'd prob go with the case of if you finish in a relegation position it means you aint up to that level and after 3 or 4 years of this i think division 1 is where we should start next season.
On the other hand, if Mo and EVERYONE are still with us come start of next season and in the prem, i think we could do ok and be at least 10 points better off say a year to date. But i highlight the 'everyone' bit, because there are never any gaurantees that everyone will be around come august.
Keep up the great work Mo and co and bring on Monday!

i did not mean to sound negative but when the boys play well they get the credit they deserve, this yearmost of the time they have battled and played nice football which i have enjoyed and hopefully next season they will be with us what ever league we play in but yesterday we were not at the races which i am sure they know so on monday lets get the fighting spirit back other wise we will be embarrassed again, happy easter eveybody. COYD.

Sounds like a freak poor performance, they have for much if the season played well and been easily as good as much if the rest of the division. Shame about the lack of points early on in the season.
Personally think you should aim to play at the highest level possible but can understand the view that it would be nice to have a season with more positive results than negative.

I've always been of the opinion that if any team finishes in a relegation position - they get relegated. Over the course of a season they haven't been good enough. Obvious I know.
But the possibility of 'getting away with it' (again), does pose an interesting question. If fate does allow us the option of a reprieve. I think we should take it, because there has been enough improvement in team performances to suggest we are not that far off the level of performance consistantly required at this level. And you should always strive to compete at the highest level possible, whatever the circumstances.
I think if we looked like finishing well adrift at the bottom of the table, my opinion would change & I would have to accept the drop.
However, if we think back to the mess we were in 2/3 years ago and look at the massive strides the club has made on and off the pitch, we've got to bear in mind that we might not have had a club to support at all - so in the larger scheme of things relegation would not be the end of the world, would it ?

I think a few years ago relegation would have been the continuation of a slide down a slippery slope. There wouldn't have been any structure in place and no kind of consistency within the team. I don't think we would have particularly competed at the level below either. Now you feel or hope that the club would be in a position to at least compete in the top bit of the first division.
The reprieves over recent seasons have been because other clubs have taken the option of folding or quitting the league when things have got tough. Wivenhoe have fulfilled their fixtures every season regardless of how hard things got and done a lot of good work off the pitch to get the club on a better footing.
